RE: CONCERN OVER INDUSTRIAL POLLUTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL INFRINGEMENT BY MATHS METAL RECYCLING LIMITED, SAGAMU, OGUN STATE
We are deeply concerned about the recent environmental violations and disregard to environmental responsibilities by Maths Metal Recycling Limited in Sagamu, Ogun State. Despite numerous warnings (issued by the Ogun State Government), the company deliberately punctured holes in wall at the back of their premises to discharge contaminated oil into its surroundings, causing grievous harm to the health and well-being of local residents in the vicinity of their operations.
We have been closely following the developments and wish to commend the Ogun
State Government – OGSG , through the Ministry of Environment (
Ogun State Ministry of Environment) for its swift response in shutting down the company and taking action to assess the damage. We fully support their commitment to ensuring justice and restitution for the affected community.
As a civil society organization dedicated to justice, peace, and sustainable development, we firmly believe in safeguarding our environment.
Environmental preservation is vital for the well-being and prosperity of our people. We stand ready to collaborate with the government, community leaders, and all stakeholders to foster a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment for the people of Ogun State.
Together, let’s protect our environment and safeguard the well-being of our community. It is our shared responsibility to nurture and preserve the beauty of our beloved Gateway State.
Join us in advocating for Environmental Justice and Sustainable Development. Together, we can make a difference!
