The Ogun State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Commemorated the 2024 International Women’s Day, on Friday 8th March 2024 at the cinema Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta.
The State commissioner for Women Affairs, said the 2024 celebration was organised by the Ministry in conjunction with the Nigeria for Women Project, with the theme Count Her in Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress.
Participants were drawn from all walks of life across the state.
Present were, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, the Deputy Speaker House of Assembly, Ogun State, the State Commander NDLEA, among others all of whom gave good will messages to commemorate the occasion.
Also at the occasion was Justice Development and Peace Commission, Ijebu-Ode represented by Barr Bunmi Ekundayo who made a presentation on Leadership during the technical session.
She called on the government to invest in women’s health to Accelerate progress in the State She also enjoyed women to be assertive resilient, and transformational as leaders.
The Coalition of Women Association were also present at the occasion with a message ‘Invest in Women, No Woman should die at Childbirth.
This year theme serves as a powerful reminder the vital role healthy Women play in shaping societies and driving progress at all levels of development.
